The Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry Programme provides advanced training in implant dentistry designed for practitioners who wish to include implants into their clinical practice and to develop their skills to place implants in straight forward to advanced cases. The programme aims to develop the practitioner’s knowledge and skill, so that he can operate with confidence in patient selection, diagnosis, investigations, treatment planning and execution of the planned implant procedure in straightforward to advance cases.
The programme includes both onsite, offsite and online clinical training to enable practice to execute the clinical skills at the student’s workplace or at IMU.
Dental implantology is not considered a specialist discipline worldwide and thus no qualification in implant dentistry will be accepted for registration in the Specialist Register of the Malaysian Dental Council.
Option I. Full-time
The Full-time option includes six 1-week modules of compulsory on-site activities in IMU School of Dentistry delivered over twelve months, approximately one module week every six to eight weeks. For the clinical activities, students have the choice of treating patients at the IMU’s Oral Health Centre or in their own clinics. Students who opt to treat patients in their own clinics are required to pay an honorarium for travel and accommodation (if applicable) for the clinical supervisor to be at their clinics.
