About The Programme

The IMU Master of Counselling focuses on developing counsellors with professional attitude, knowledge, skills and competencies in the areas of counselling practice and research. This programme provides practical skills training on par with local and international standards for graduates of the programme to take up leadership positions in the fields of counselling, teaching, research and management.

The programme is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and fulfills the requirement standards established by the Malaysian profesional counselling body; the Malaysian Board of Counsellors (Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia).

Hence, the graduates of the programme will be eligible to apply for registration with the Malaysian Board of Counsellors.

IMU University’s Master of Counselling programme aims to nurture competent, ethical, and socially responsible counsellors who can make a positive impact in their communities. In addition to the core modules, our programme offers elective modules and research project, which better equip our students’ competencies when serving the communities. Our faculty members deeply value the process of journeying personally and growing professionally with our students. We believe in co-constructing a meaningful learning experience and forming collaborative relationships with our students to best facilitate their mastery of counselling knowledge and skills.
