About The Programme

The Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetes Management and Education is a taught course with an inclusive, innovative, and flexible curriculum designed to fit into the working adult lifestyle and impart competencies to grow a career for the future diabetes care workplace.

The programme caters for a broad range of healthcare professionals including nurses, assistant medical officers, dietitians, pharmacists, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, podiatrists, and medical practitioners who are interested in improving diabetes care.

Teaching and learning is delivered and supervised by highly qualified and experienced local and international specialists from the multidisciplinary areas of diabetes care, and extends beyond the provision of education to include theory, research, and the educator role into professional practice to generate individualised selfmanagement solutions for people with diabetes.

Students can choose to complete all 6 modules of the programme, within 1 year as a full-time student or within a maximum period of 3 years as a part-time student.

Who is Eligible to Study?

Registered Nurse / Assistant Medical Officer / Dietitian / Pharmacist / Physiotherapist / Clinical Psychologist / Podiatrist / Medical Practitioner with a Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline and a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and;
Registered (if appropriate) with Nursing / Assistant Medical Officer / Pharmacy / Medical Practitioner Board of Malaysia or country of origin or its equivalent

THE PROGRAMME DIRECTOR

“The mission of the IMU Diabetes Management and Education programme is to produce competent diabetes educators with a level of expertise to positively impact the health of people with diabetes while progressing in their career and professional lives. In fulfilling this mission, the IMU Diabetes Management and Education Programme has been designed to develop graduates who are able to provide personalised education, support and solutions for people with diabetes and their caregivers. The graduates of this program will also be able to help the community they engage with through the coordination and advocacy of diabetes care. This programme also equips its graduates with the ability to independently seek new knowledge and skills to continuously improve diabetes care delivery.”
